Bio
Zach Regin is a hornist from Bristol, VA, who is currently based in Kansas City, Missouri. He was previously appointed as 4th Horn of the Stratus Chamber Orchestra and was selected to be a member of the fellowship quintet, Plaza Winds.
Zach has performed at several festivals, including the Boston University Tanglewood Institute, Curtis Summerfest, Philadelphia International Music Festival, Vienna Summer Music Festival, Brevard Music Center and Round Top Festival Institute. He is a previous member of the Denver Chamber Orchestra, Colorado Chorale Orchestra and Cornerstone Productions Orchestra. He has performed with the Longmont Symphony Orchestra and Colorado Symphony Orchestra.
An avid chamber musician, Zach is a core member of the Kansas City based quintet, Plaza Winds. He previously performed as a member of the Noisette Quintet, who were named the winner of the Lamont School of Music chamber music competition. Other Spring 2026 chamber highlights have included performances of Likhuta’s Out of the Woods?, Britten’s Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings and Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 1.
Zach has played as a soloist with the Symphony of the Mountains Youth Orchestra, performing Mozart’s Horn Concerto No. 2. Most recently, he was featured as a soloist with the Lamont Jazz Orchestra in Denver, CO, performing Gabriel Santiago’s Northeast Impressions Suite. He was previously a member of the student formed band, BetterWeather. He recorded solo horn on their debut 2023 album, Wayfare alongside their second album, Next Time. BetterWeather frequently performed in the Denver area and toured in San Francisco, CA during the summer of 2023.
A believer in equitable access to music and live performance, Zach was a part of several outreach projects to the Denver community. This included a tour with the klezmer ensemble, Kvetchup Band, leading outreach to several Jewish community centers in Colorado. Zach also helped lead outreach to the Clermont Park retirement home, Children’s Hospital Colorado and the Colorado Symphony’s Community Education Program with ensembles from the Lamont School of Music.
Zach is a previous student of Dr. Olivier Blakney, Gabriel Kovach, David Byrd-Marrow and Carolyn Kunicki. He completed his undergraduate studies at the Lamont School of Music in Denver, CO, where he earned his Bachelor of Music in Performance and completed his Performance Certificate. He is currently a graduate student studying with Alberto Suarez at the University of Missouri, Kansas City Conservatory of Music.
Zach enjoys spending his free time hanging out with friends, fitness and cooking.
